My Story

EngelBelle. Botanical artist, Creative Educator and Mojo Maker.

Hey there, I'm Kerry Engel and I used to tease that I'd become an artist once I retired. Well, guess what? I'm retired now and I'm hustling hard to make that dream come true! I figure that I’ve got a solid 25 years to make a go of it, so let's see where this wild ride takes me!

My heart beats for botanical arts, especially eco-printing and Cyanotype (sun printing). There's something magical about the dreamy prints I can create using flowers, and my all-time favorite color is blue! That's what first lured me into the captivating world of Cyanotype printing.

I've spent most of my career in adult education, and nothing's more fulfilling than helping others find their creative spark and make a wild, beautiful mess. I'm all about teaching artsy classes, from Cyanotype to eco-printing and mixed media. So, come join me in my adventures and follow me on Instagram and Facebook @engelbelle .

My artistic adventure began eons ago, back in the late 80s, when I wielded a camera, scrapbook, and glue stick. By the time 1997 rolled around, it became an all-out obsession. I was that mom with a camera constantly trained on my kiddos and spent countless hours crafting scrapbook layouts.

As with many others, my scrapbooking craze paved the way for a love affair with mixed media.

The ultimate highlight of my scrapbooking journey was joining the Design Team at Creative Scrapbooker Magazine. Alas, I stepped down from my post in spring 2023 to pursue fresh educational endeavors. I still teach virtually in the Creative Scrapbooker  VIPClub.

That same year, I shared my wisdom at the Edmonton Urban Farm and even got to be a guest instructor at the Flower Magic Art Fest.

Interested in small group art lessons in the Edmonton, AB area? Look no further, friend!

What fills Kerry’s cup?

Tea fills her literal cup most of the time. More specifically, vanilla black tea. Figuratively, her cup is filled by helping others explore their creativity, learn new skills and nourish their own souls.
